Becoming a Manager
Something I’ve wrestled with over the last couple of years - success in a given field (in my case web development) often leads to promotion to a point where you’re not doing ‘it’ anomore, but managing a team of people to do it.
It was a big shock to me, but I’m starting to get the hang of it, if not enjoy it.
Someone just passed me a link to an article by Erin Malone called So You Think You Want to be a Manager - substitute ‘designer’ for ‘developer’ and that was me!
However, as I continued to read down through the artice, the surreality of it got worse as this song started up iun the back of my head going “everyday do someting that scares you…”
